Technician Programme
(Tech. JOIFF)
The JOIFF Technician (Tech. JOIFF) programme is a pathway for Industrial Emergency Responders to further develop technical knowledge and skills. The programme consists of seven separate units with multiple elements, each of which defines a particular activity and the expected outcome.
Units within the JOIFF-accredited Technician programme include:
- Fire engineering science
- Fixed installations
- Process industry
Full success requires the student to carry out individual study. On successful completion the student is awarded a JOIFF Technician Certificate and can use the professional post nominal Tech.JOIFF.

The JOIFF eLearning programmes
JOIFF accredited eLearning programmes have built-in flexibility, allowing our students to access on computers or via smart devices. This enables students to reference and apply their learned knowledge directly in the workplace.
Each programme offers a tailored learning path at the appropriate level of training. Students are free to work according to their own schedule including in their workplace – a huge benefit for organisations that work shift patterns or at multiple locations.
Students need to provide evidence of each of the elements of each of the units completed, creating a traceable system of assessment and growing competence. It is not necessary to follow the elements and units in sequence – how the work on the programme is completed is at the discretion of site management/the student.
The student’s work on each unit is reviewed by an assessor with the relevant background, competence and experience, and the work is externally verified by Fulcrum Consultants. Each student who successfully completes a programme is awarded an internationally-recognised JOIFF professional qualification confirming their new level of competence.
